Jane Bean is a licensed acupuncturist in private practice in Brattleboro,
VT. She earned her B.S. In biology from Portland State University
in 1986 and graduated from the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine
in 1990. Jane spent 2 months in China in 1991 at the Hei Long Jiang
College of TCM, one month in the gynecology department and one month
in internal medicine. In 1994, she completed the one-year postgraduate
course in Toyo Hari Acupuncture at the New England School of Acupuncture,
and in 1997 she completed the 18-month certification course in Gynecology
offered by Blue Poppy Seminars. In the fall of 1997 Jane went to
the Hunan College of TCM in Changsha, China for another month of
study in gynecology. Jane practices in a small town in a rural area, so she has experience
treating patients with a wide variety of conditions. Her main areas
of expertise include gastrointestinal complaints (particularly intestinal
parasitosis), gynecological conditions, and chronic and/or autoimmune
disorders. In general, about 90% of her patients are treated with
Chinese herbal medicine with or without acupuncture, however, in
the last two years she has been treating many more patients for
pain using acupuncture only, both in her private practice and at
Fallon HMO in Worcester, MA. Jane began translating medical Chinese in 1994, at the rate of
about 4 characters per hour. She is currently translating articles
from the journal literature and has had several articles published
based on her translations. Curing Irritable Bowel Syndrome Naturally
with Chinese Medicine is her first book.
