Established in 1982, Blue Poppy Enterprises is the world's largest English-language publisher of books and educational products about Chinese medicine and acupuncture. From a single self-published and self-promoted book, Blue Poppy now publishes over 80 titles, from translations of pre-modern masters to new contemporary clinical manuals that help provide the bridge between Western and Chinese medicine.

In 1995 Blue Poppy became the first company to offer Distance Learning programs as a way to earn continuing education units (CEU) for re-certification as a practitioner of Chinese medicine. Today Blue Poppy is the preeminent provider of Distance Learning to Chinese medical practitioners, offering over 50 Distance Learning courses representing over 500 hours of continuing education.

In 1999 the company added internal herbal formulations and herbal topical tinctures and ointments to their product line. Based on over 25 years of patient and clinical experience in the U.S. and China, Bob Flaws, herbalist and co-owner of Blue Poppy, has designed a superior product that was quickly accepted in the Chinese medical community. This line of complex internal formulations, designed to treat the Western patients, is only available through Chinese medical practitioners.
