Continuing Medical Education (CME) Mission Statement
Blue Poppy Institute (BPI) is a division of Blue Poppy Enterprises,
a private corporation of the State of Colorado founded in 1982 and
headquartered in Boulder. Blue Poppy Institute is dedicated to the
promotion of excellence in acupuncture and Chinese medical health
care through continuing education courses which enhance and expand
the knowledge and skills of professional practitioners of acupuncture
and Chinese medicine throughout the English-speaking world.
Blue Poppy Institute CME Program organizes and provides both live
and Distance Learning continuing education courses in the following
content areas: Chinese medical theory, Chinese medical diagnosis,
acupuncture, moxibustion, tuina, cupping, bleeding, and other adjunctive
therapies, Chinese herbal medicine, and various Chinese medical
clinical specialties, such as but not limited to gynecology, pediatrics,
gastroenterology, psychiatry, traumatology, dermatology, and allergies
and autoimmune diseases. BPI CME courses are primarily designed
for English-speaking professional practitioners of acupuncture and
Chinese medicine, although most are open to members of other licensed
health care professions who meet minimum entrance requirements in
acupuncture and/or Chinese medicine. All BPI CME courses include
enduring materials, such as video and audiotapes, textbooks, and
supplemental reading packages. Live CME courses are conducted regionally,
nationally, and internationally. Distance Learning courses are available
either by mail or over the Internet. All BPI CME courses reflect
the educational needs of professional practitioners of acupuncture
and Chinese medicine in the English-speaking world, however, with
an emphasis on North America. The scope of services provided by
Blue Poppy Seminars includes needs assessment, program development
and management, evaluation of courses, promotion, logistics, and
audiovisual support.
The BPI CME Program operates according to established policies
and procedures. The goals of the BPI CME Program are to:
1. Develop continuing acupuncture and Chinese medical education
