This formula was created by Gan Xiao-yong from the Yanan University Medical College Affiliated Hospital in Shanxi and has been modified by Bob Flaws due to one of the original medicinals being from an endangered species (i.e., Squama Manitis Pentadactylis, Chuan Shan Jia). INDICATIONS:
This formula is for the treatment of a combination of damp heat, qi stagnation, and blood stasis complicated by spleen-kidney qi vacuity resulting in dribbling urinary block and strangury conditions. Another way of describing the patterns which this formula addresses are a liver-spleen-stomach disharmony with damp heat stasis and stagnation and spleen vacuity leading to kidney qi vacuity. This complicated constellation of patterns often presents in middle-aged men with chronic prostatitis and benign prostatic hypertrophy. Although this formula is not designed to lower blood pressure, it may have that effect as well due to its combination of diuretics and vasodilators.

THE SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF DAMP HEAT INCLUDE:
Frequent, urgent, possibly burning urination
Possible hematuria
A slippery, possibly rapid pulse, especially in the cubit positions
Slimy, possibly yellow fur at the root of the tongue
A tendency to loose, dark, smelly stools with possible anal burning
Possible damp heat skin rashes, sores, and/or itching
Possible superficial edema of the lower extremities
Possible nausea and vomiting (These symptoms may also be due to a liver-stomach disharmony.)
Possible night sweats
Worsening of symptoms due to eating damp, hot foods or foods which aggravate damp heat, including sugar

THE SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF QI STAGNATION & BLOOD STASIS INCLUDE:
Difficult, painful urination with a thin and/or bifurcated stream
Perineal soreness, lower abdominal distention
A deep
