Blue Poppy EXTERNALS
You may have or will notice a change in the color of Blue Poppy External Ointments as well as our new labels.
Where appropriate, we are converting all of our ointment formulas to whole herb infusions.
This means that the formula is essentially the same. We are using whole herbs instead of powdered herbs because the powdered herbs create a grittiness that we can eliminate by using whole herbs that are then filtered out. With physical powder of the herbs no longer present, the color of the product will be lighter. Since sources of the herbs change due to availability, there may be variability in the finished product from time to time.
No changes to the herbs themselves have changed, just the process. We have done this to make a better product, especially for the ones that treat sensitive areas. No more grittiness.
However, we assure you that we are still using the same herbs and have added new stiffening agents with additional health benefits.
If you have noticed some of our lids have changed recently. Due to supply issues during Covid 19 we had to substitute our choices of ointment lids. We discovered a substitute that may serve the end user better than our original lid.
Our original ointment lids had a heat inducted sealing liner, made of either foam or foil. A heat inducted seal is designed for liquids, which we still use with our liniments, shampoo, and massage oils. This seal cannot be reapplied once it is broken. Once these heat inducted seals are removed there is the real potential for the ointments to dry or age more rapidly due to outside air entering the container even while the lid is on.
On the other hand, a foam core pressure adhesive seal will continue to provide an airtight seal if the lid is reapplied securely. We feel that this will give the end user a longer shelf life and better overall experience.
We at Blue Poppy are committed to providing you and your clients a high-quality product that works. These new ointment lids should help the products retain their freshness and potency even after being opened.
Lastly, some have expressed concern over our use of palm oil in our externals and its source. Be assured that Blue Poppy only uses "certifiable sustainable" palm oils from Latin America.
